Welcome to Therapies United

...helping you find a complementary therapist

Therapies United is a register of professional, local complementary therapists offering you a wide range of therapies throughout Scotland - including Edinburgh, Scottish Borders, Fife, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow and Dumfries. Whether you are looking for someone to support a serious health issue or you simply want to find someone to help you relax with a soothing massage and it's free to browse.

"Part of our interest in Therapies United is based upon Maggie's ethos of supporting people with cancer in making informed choices. My sense is that Therapies United can provide people with some of the information they might need in the process of making that choice." Lorrie Forsyth - Centre Head/Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Maggie's Lanarkshire

To help you make an informed choice, we screen the therapists before they are listed on the register. We check their credentials, insurance and any other information that is relevant (eg disclosure checked, first aid training, professional memberships etc).

Each profile page of our therapists helps you learn more about them too. We feature a photo, some background information and an outline of their main experience. Many therapists offer more than one therapy so you can find this on their profile too. We just think it's important that you know as much as possible about the therapist before contacting them.

Experience and Training

Some of our therapists have specific training and experience that has been verified - eg working with people with cancer, children, fertility or pregnancy. Under our 'Find A Therapist' feature, our search function helps you to filter your search to find these therapists. Or perhaps you are keen to find someone local to your home/work. You can use the search to find the therapists within your postcode.

"Having the free directory - Therapies United is a huge help to Maggies Centre in Kirkcaldy. It's wonderful to have a service that vets local practitioners so that we can signpost with confidence. Lots of visitors are asking about therapies so we want to be able to support them in accessing credible practitioners." Ruth McCabe, Centre Head, Maggie's Centre - Kirkcaldy

The therapists are self employed and may either have a treatment room in their home, work from a clinic or visit you in your home if that's more convenient. We simply hope that the register helps you make a more informed choice.

Discounts and Low Income Rates

Anyone can use the register to find a therapist. We do have a special relationship with our Partners (currently Maggies centre in Scotland, Breast Cancer Care, Positive Voice and Sick Kids Hospital Drop In Centre and SAMH for mental health). This means that anyone who is connected to/use these services receives a reduced treatment rate. See 'Special Offers' for further details.

Some of the therapists also offer a low, flat rate of £19 for anyone on a low income. We do have a procedure for this so please contact us by email first to enquire and we'll send you further information.

Taster Sessions and Workshops

We also provide you with a service to organise therapy tasters and/or workshops for groups. We have a lot of experience of working with companies and schools throughout scotland to support staff with health and wellbeing days - providing therapy tasters and interactive workshops to help people look after and improve their health and reduce stress. Please contact us for further information on this service or have a look at our 'Therapies At Work' section.
